Every songwriter has songs they can explain… and songs they simply can’t.  MAKE OUT GIRL (MOG Mix) belongs in the second category.  Some stories are meant to be told. Others are meant to stay where they were born. I’ll leave the real inspiration for this song exactly where it belongs and let the music do the talking. What I can tell you is this…

During one unforgettable season, I became obsessed with the fearless sound of Garbage. Their blend of alternative rock, electronic textures, attitude, and cinematic production completely captured my imagination. Watching Shirley Manson command a stage with confidence and raw energy reminded me that great rock music isn’t just heard—it creates a world you can step into.

That spirit found its way into MAKE OUT GIRL (MOG Mix).

It’s a song about attraction that feels larger than life. Neon nights. Cosmic collisions. Loud guitars. A little danger. A little fantasy. The kind of song that belongs on an endless summer drive with the windows down and the music turned all the way up.

So imagine my surprise when I discovered that MAKE OUT GIRL (MOG Mix) had been added to the Indie Rock Vibes playlist on Spotify.

Independent playlists are one of the best places to discover music that doesn’t always find its way into the mainstream. Every artist on a playlist like this is chasing the same dream—to write something that connects with another human being.

Johnny Punish | Make Out Girl (MOG)

GREAT SUMMER enjoying band GARBAGE and their music ends with a song inspired by the amazing energy of the band and lead singer Shirley Manson. Personally, I worked hard to learn techniques from Butch Vig and the boys, watching all their technical production vids and getting some help from my friends!

And Shirley Manson? Well, she inspired me to write this song. Do I really need to spell it out how she inspires?

The song was created about a lovely who shared the musical adventure; grooving on Garbage during the summer of 2016, ending with me seeing them live September 4, 2016, in Guadalajara, Mexico; first row! Not too shabby!

Song is an ode to infatuation, dreams, rock, hopes, love, sex, and whatever else inspires. Shirley Manson and Garbage; you really rock our world! Super thanks for the inspiration!
