1950s rock ’n’ roll, dancing monsters, and a Halloween party that refuses to stay in the grave
Halloween is that magical time of year when ordinary people put on extraordinary costumes, pumpkins develop permanent grins, bats become neighborhood celebrities, and perfectly respectable adults suddenly decide that decorating their homes with skeletons is a perfectly normal thing to do.
And honestly? I think we need more of that kind of madness.
Life can be serious enough the other eleven months of the year. Halloween gives us permission to be ridiculous, embrace our inner monsters, and have a little fun with the things that go bump in the night.
But if we’re going to celebrate Halloween properly, there’s one thing we absolutely cannot forget.
THE MUSIC!

What if Dracula had a guitar?
Picture the scene.
It’s Halloween night, 1955. The lights are low at Langston High School. The dance floor is packed with teenagers in poodle skirts, leather jackets, and Halloween costumes. The jukebox is ready, the pumpkins are glowing, and somebody has invited a few rather unusual musicians to the party.
Frankenstein is holding down the bass.
Dracula is ready to shred on guitar.
The Mummy is behind the drums, looking remarkably cool in his shades.
And Johnny? He’s stepping up to the microphone in his red suit, ready to lead the whole crazy crowd into a rock ’n’ roll frenzy.

Welcome to MONSTER BOOGIE!
It’s my latest Halloween musical adventure with Johnny and The Dreamtones, produced by Punish Studios. Think retro rock ’n’ roll, a vintage high school sock hop, spooky characters, and a whole lot of dancing.
We’re not trying to scare anybody out of their shoes. We’re trying to get them dancing in them!
Why I love the spirit of Halloween
There’s something wonderful about the old-school Halloween atmosphere. Before every experience needed to be optimized, monetized, or turned into a productivity hack, people could simply gather together, put on some music, and have a good time.
That’s the spirit I wanted to capture.
The 1950s gave us rock ’n’ roll, rebellious teenagers, unforgettable dance crazes, and a musical energy that still gets people moving today. Add a few classic monsters and a Halloween party, and you’ve got the ingredients for something wonderfully silly.
And silly is underrated.
Sometimes we need a break from the headlines, the arguments, and the daily circus. Sometimes we just need to let the music play, laugh at a dancing mummy, and remember that having fun is a perfectly legitimate use of our time.
Besides, if Frankenstein can find the rhythm, what’s your excuse?
Put on your dancing shoes!
I’ve created a full music video for “Monster Boogie”, complete with the monster band, the Halloween dance party, and all the retro cartoon fun I could squeeze into it.
So here’s your invitation.
Grab a pumpkin spice something-or-other, put on your favorite Halloween costume, turn up the volume, and join Johnny and The Dreamtones for a little monster-sized rock ’n’ roll.
And if you enjoy the song, give it a like, share it with a friend, and help spread a little Halloween rock ’n’ roll around the neighborhood.

One last thing before the monsters go home…
Halloween only comes once a year, but a good rock ’n’ roll song can stick around long after the jack-o’-lanterns have turned to mush.
So this October, let’s celebrate the spooky, the silly, the nostalgic, and the gloriously ridiculous.
- Let’s bring back the sock hop.
- Let’s give Dracula a guitar solo.
- Let’s get Frankenstein on the dance floor.
- And above all, let’s BOOGIE!
Happy Halloween from Johnny Punish, Johnny and The Dreamtones, and everyone at Punish Studios.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a date with a vampire, a mummy, and a very suspicious-looking fellow named Frank.
