The global recession of 2008-2010 inspired this song by Johnny Punish. With over 10% unemployment in the USA and more worldwide, there needed to be a bright spot, a place for all of us who’ve been dumped on by the beyond-irresponsible policies of the G.W. Bush administration.
In this light, Johnny Punish wrote and recorded this catchy tune “Riding the Bus” as an ode to all who’ve been hammered and sinking into the financial and emotional abyss.
LYRICS
Riding the Bus (Punish)
Get a Clue
Yes it’s true
The system just broke in two
Life’s not fair
So ya stare
Deer in a headlight glare
Run over by a truck
Ain’t no luck Chuck
Clampdown always makes a buck
with a Knife in your Back
Jumping flash jack
Let it go and don’t look back
Don’t look back to the past
When life was sweet and we ran fast
The future is still ahead of us
We just gotta take the right bus
Into town
look we found
A million people on the ground
Just like us
Riding the bus Gus
Nowhere to go not in a rush
on the streets
hear the drum beats
Police and thieves kill to compete
On Judgement day
What can they say
It doesn’t matter anyway
Don’t look back to the past
When life was sweet and we ran fast
The future is still ahead of us
We just gotta take the right bus
Don’t look back to the past
When life was sweet and we ran fast
The future is still ahead of us
We just gotta take the right bus
It’s not me or you it’s all of us
Riding the bus
