Okay so did Elvis Presley hook up with Dame Shirley Bassey?
Well, inspired by the tale that Shirley tells in several interviews, I wrote, sang, and composed this cool 60’s-esque song called “Lady From Tiger Bay” in honor of Dame Shirley, my favorite female vocalist of all time, and the King, Elvis Presley, my idol, hero, inspiration, and mentor infinitum.
Here’s what Dame Shirley says about the meeting with Elvis;
Anyway, I wrote the song from the point of view of Elvis. I mean this is what he must have said to Shirley that brilliant hot night. She’s such a lady! Do you think she would tell us what the King said and what they shared that dry warm desert evening? Hum? I don’t think so. But Elvis? Come on! How could the King resist seducing the amazing Goldfinger songstress? That would be music blasphemy.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy my interpretation of this magical mythical event in music history and forever honor both of these amazing artists as I do. Here’s to Dame Shirley and Great Elvis Presley!
