So I wrote “SKELESHOW” this past week as a tribute to my great friends and awesome musicians “The Skeletones”.  Written as a thank you to The Skeletones for amazing fun and great music, I gave it my very best; writing, performing and producing SKELESHOW as a homage to the great legendary Ska Band from Southern California, USA.

Back in the early 1990s, I was introduced to them by my cousin Rich B.  He saw them play at Monopoly’s in Riverside, CA, USA.  He said they were awesome and that I should check them out. I did and he was right.  Then he said they were just starting out and needed some cash to finish up their first record.  Luckily I was doing quite well and had some.  So… long story short, within a few days, Paul Hampton was in my office and we were working out the details to get that record finished.

We did and the rest is Ska history.  The red album came out to rave reviews. The fans loved it. And it was off to the races.

For me, I loved all the guys.  It was never about the money.  It was always a labor of love.  I believed in them.  Plain and Simple! Of course, we had a small team of like-minded up-start marketing men to help them get up the music biz ladder; namely Lee Cuellar and Michael Preston.  Heck, they were even bigger fans than I was.  They were awesome!

Like all things, nothing lasts forever.  And I wish I could have done a better job for them.  But we were all so young back then. Everyone made mistakes.

Eventually, the band moved on to the next adventure and I remained a huge fan. But more than just a fan, I loved the guys period!  Paul, Jonas, Alex, Mark, Jake, Garth, and Kip; that line-up was special!

Later the band morphed into several different line-ups and that was great too.  But nothing will ever match the innocent climb up the ladder when everyone was bright-eyed and looking forward to every day like it was Christmas.  What a time!  What a space!  The music!  The fans!  The energy!

Enjoy the story…enjoy the song!

LYRICS

Hello Mr Jones
Where’s Dr. Bones?

What’s that man hauling on his back
looks like he needs a 59 Cadillac
to haul that organ to the village gig
Pauly, ah ooh wee

Who’s dat man on the Vespa moto-bike
It’s Cary Grant someone give him the lead mic
so he can get us to the promised land
Pauly, ah ooh wee

SKELE-SHOW at Riverside Barn (yeah yeah)
DANCE CRAZE that’s Mark on the bass (yeah yeah)
2 TONES meet the Skeletones
I’ll be there
I’ll be there
I’ll be there

Who’s that on Geetar playing skanking Monkey Man
While mosh pit destroys his homemade amp
Just lil’ Alex smoking something good
Pauly, ah ooh wee

Who’s that Trumpet man playing 54-46
That’s my number says Jake as throws his sticks
at Garth, Kip and Jonas on the line
Pauly, ah ooh wee

SKELE-SHOW at Riverside Barn (yeah yeah)
DANCE CRAZE let’s pick up the pace (yeah yeah)
2 Tones skanking Skeletones
We’ll be there
We’ll be there
We’ll be there
We’ll be there

Give it to ONE TIME
Give it to me TWO TIME
Give it to me THREE TIMES
Give it to me FOUR TIMES

SKELE-SHOW at Riverside Barn (yeah yeah)
DANCE CRAZE make a Boneshaker face
2 Tones meet the Skeletones

We’ll be there
We’ll be there
We’ll be there
We’ll be there

We’ll be there
To Take The Ska Train
We’ll be there
Skanking to Nutty Day
We’ll be there
Kick in the Butt by Love
We’ll be there
To See What Needs to Be Done

Rudie Can’t Fail
Rudie Can’t Fail

That’s the way the story goes
Jill Victoria was the Telephone

The Secret Bonus Track had Funky Jesus power
cause She Just Wants To play all night high high

A party in time will never be forgotten
and cause You Make Me Wanna Laugh Again n n
Hey I’m laughing!
