In the summer of 1977, Chazz spent every sun-soaked day and balmy night in his room, retreating from the world.

At fifteen, he was lanky and shy, with a heart full of dreams too big to share. His room was his sanctuary, but his real escape was his turntable, and for weeks, his escape had one name: Rumours.

TEA WITH STEVIE | Cody Steele (Stevie Nicks Song – Country – Lyrics)

With headphones tight over his ears, Chazz would lie back on his bed and let the album wash over him. Each song took him somewhere different, but it was Stevie’s voice that filled the gaps in his heart. She felt like a muse he had always known—wild, mysterious, and somehow there for him. He closed his eyes and imagined sitting with her, maybe in some quiet place where they’d sip tea, laughing about the songs they’d sing and places they’d see. When Dreams played, he could see them sharing secrets under a warm rain, and every time The Chain echoed, he imagined them on the run from the world together, bound by an unbreakable connection.

As the summer rolled on, he spread the “rumor” among his friends that he’d leave this small town someday and find his real place in the world. The truth was, he didn’t know how to make that happen—he only knew he wanted to live as freely as the Gypsy he imagined Stevie to be. He wished he could carry a wild heart, too, and as he listened, he promised himself he’d hold onto these dreams.

Years passed, and Chazz did grow up and leave that small town, though he never quite lost his youthful dreamer spirit. He chased the life he had once only pictured—venturing from one city to another, creating his own winding path, always looking for that feeling he’d had that summer. Eventually, he married, had kids, and built a life that sometimes felt like it belonged to another person. But on certain nights, he’d pull out his vinyl, place Rumours on the turntable, and let himself be fifteen again, dreaming with Stevie.

He never stopped loving her, not in the way one loves a person, but in the way you love a memory that feels like a part of you. And as Stevie’s voice drifted through the years, he was reminded of the boy he’d been—the one who’d always known, deep down, that those dreams had shaped him into everything he would become.
