MONROE, LA – John Schneider (“The Dukes of Hazzard,” “90210,” and “Smallville”) William Devane (“Knots Landing,” “24”, “Space Cowboys”) and up and coming leading lady GiGi Erneta (“Friday Night Lights,” “Veronica Mars,” “Strong Medicine”) star in the new R-Squared Productions feature “Flag of my Father.”
“Flag,” tells the story of Army nurse CPT Judith Rainier (Erneta) and how jealousy threatens to destroy the relationship between her and her four brothers—a conflict that erupts when their Vietnam veteran father suddenly dies. Rainer is the only surviving veteran in the family, but still a woman and the youngest child—a position that does not garner much respect from her civilian siblings.
Devane portrays the family’s patriarch while Schneider is the nurse’s brother who is the most dismissive of her service. The heroine is forced to heal family wounds she inadvertently caused while battling severe post-traumatic stress initiated by a P.O.W. experience. The nurse risks her life and virtue to save a dying comrade while in captivity.
The film premiered in West Monroe, LA on April 16. Attendees included Devane and U.S. Senator David Vitter. Vitter went on to say, “Flag of my Father really is an inspiring film about the enormous sacrifice of American soldiers and the enormous power of faith. This powerful film has a message that all Americans need to hear – particularly my colleagues in Washington.” Approximately 10,000 people attended the premiere and several screenings since its debut. Ray and Erneta were also invited to New York City to appear on the hit FOX News online show “The Strategy Room” in May.
