Memo to Massa McDonnell: The USA is one nation under god. We are NOT the Confederacy of the Slave-Owning States of the Jefferson Davis. We won the war and do NOT celebrate the losses of our enemies! Learn it, Love it, and Live it!
Just minutes after DNC Chairman — and former Virginia Gov. — Tim Kaine criticized his successor, Gov. Bob McDonnell (R), for not acknowledging slavery’s role in a proclamation he signed declaring April “Confederate History Month,” McDonnell has now apologized.
“The proclamation issued by this office designating April as Confederate History Month contained a major omission,” he said in a statement. “The failure to include any reference to slavery was a mistake, and for that, I apologize to any fellow Virginian who has been offended or disappointed. The abomination of slavery divided our nation, deprived people of their God-given inalienable rights, and led to the Civil War.
Slavery was an evil, vicious and inhumane practice that degraded human beings to property, and it has left a stain on the soul of this state and nation. In 2007, the Virginia General Assembly approved a formal statement of ‘profound regret’ for the Commonwealth’s history of slavery, which was the right thing to do.”
McDonnell also announced that a revised proclamation will include this paragraph:
WHEREAS, it is important for all Virginians to understand that the institution of slavery led to this war and was an evil and inhumane practice that deprived people of their God-given inalienable rights and all Virginians are thankful for its permanent eradication from our borders, and the study of this time period should reflect upon and learn from this painful part of our history…
This guy is living in a fantasy world disgracing our U.S. Military who serve around the world in defense of this great diverse country and within the great state of Virginia’s border. America has come thousands of miles away from the past where some people thought that owning others was an idea that was something we should continue and embrace.
Frankly, apologies are simply not good enough anymore.
This is the year 2010, not 1860. Lunatics who choose to live in the past fantasy glory of the un-holy institution of slavery are demented and insult all Americans in the modern 21st Century.
We have global competition at our front door with many challenges to meet. We simply do NOT need to deal with closet racists who pretend to serve the people while they advocate in the shadows for the disintegration of the USA.
He needs to resign immediately at the very least or, at the very best, be arrested for treason against the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
