Today I celebrate;

Day of the Dead: Mexico’s Festival of Communion with the Departed

Put up candles and pictures for my mother and my wife’s father. We are too far away from their resting places so this “shrine” is the next best thing.

This “Day of the Dead” tradition is one of the best cultural holidays on the planet because it connnects the tribe to it’s roots giving it stability and girth. In American, today is just another day for the dollar and the dead? Well, who cares right, they’re dead. At least, that’s the message sent.

For me, I prefer to connect myself to the past for it defines my being and gives me a nice perch to which to say “I am somebody! I am part of something that came before me”.

It’s a nice place to be.

In other news, it’s also my son’s 18th birthday. He’s legal now. A shout out to Chuckster and best wishes to a young man on this way.

Oh, gotta finish the lead guitar to my remake of “Beth”, that awesome ballad by KISS. I punked it up at a face pace and dealt it some Johnny Punish vibe. I will post it this week.  Stay tuned!
